ClickFunnels Funnel Optimization and Funnel Audit for Opt-in, Sales and Order Pages
A ClickFunnels funnel loses buyers one step at a time: an opt-in page that asks for too much, a sales page whose first button sits three screens down on a phone, an order form with fields nobody needs. Converto audits each published step from its URL and ranks the fixes by what they cost you.
Why this tends to convert:
Suggestions are data-informed, not guarantees.
In short
ClickFunnels funnel optimization means raising the share of visitors who move from each step of a funnel to the next: opt-in to sales page, sales page to order form, order form to purchase. The usual leaks are a headline that names the product instead of the result, a first call to action below the first screen on a phone, competing links and offers, an order form with more fields than the sale needs, and a slow, script-heavy page. Converto audits any published ClickFunnels step in about a minute, with nothing to install, then ranks the fixes and writes replacement headlines and button copy.
Why it fits
Coaches, course sellers, agencies and ecommerce brands who send paid traffic into a ClickFunnels funnel.
Audits each step on its own
Paste the URL of an opt-in page, a sales page, an order form or an upsell step. Converto scores each one separately, so you can see which step is the weak link instead of staring at one funnel-wide number.
Finds the button a phone visitor cannot see
It reports how far down the page the first call to action sits and flags one past 35 percent, along with tap targets under 44 by 44 pixels. Long-form funnel pages fail this more than any other check.
Counts fields and exits
An opt-in or order form with more than 5 fields is flagged, and so is a page with more than 6 competing calls to action or a header full of links that lead out of the funnel.
Writes the fix, not just the score
Every finding comes with a ranked fix and replacement headline and button variants you can paste straight into the ClickFunnels page editor, including the variant page of a split test.
Where ClickFunnels funnels leak buyers
ClickFunnels makes it fast to build a funnel. Every plan, from Launch at $97 a month to Optimize at $297, includes unlimited funnels, pages and visitors, so nothing in the price stops you from publishing a page that does not sell. The builder will not tell you why a step underperforms. It shows page views, opt-ins, orders and sales per page; it does not tell you that your headline is 22 words long or that a phone visitor has to scroll past a 4 minute video before seeing a button.
Most funnels start from a template built to sell somebody else's offer, and the template's structure stays after the copy is changed. That is how a funnel ends up with a webinar-style countdown on an evergreen product, a testimonial block with placeholder names, or an order form asking for a phone number and a shipping address for a digital course. Each of those costs a share of the people who reached that step, and because a funnel is a chain, a loss at step one multiplies through every step after it.

What the audit checks on each funnel step
The thresholds are the same ones Converto applies to every page, so a ClickFunnels step is scored on the same scale as a page built anywhere else. The right column is where a funnel owner usually makes the change.
| What the audit reports | Which step it hurts most | Where you change it in ClickFunnels |
|---|---|---|
| A headline over 14 words, or one that names the product instead of the result | Opt-in and sales pages, where the first line decides whether anyone reads on | The headline element of the first section; paste in one of the variants Converto writes |
| The first call to action past 35 percent of the page | Long sales pages and video sales letters viewed on a phone | Add a button directly under the video or hero, then repeat it after the proof and the price |
| A form with more than 5 fields | Opt-in pages and order forms | The form and order form elements; drop phone and address fields unless you ship something or call every lead |
| More than 6 competing calls to action, or a header with more than 6 links | Sales pages built from a website template | Remove the site navigation from funnel steps; keep one offer and one button label per step |
| Time to first byte over 800 ms, a document over 2.5 seconds or 500 KB, more than 15 third-party scripts | Every step, worst on the first page of a paid campaign | Compress hero images, remove pixels and chat widgets left in the funnel or page tracking code from old campaigns |
| Tap targets under 44 by 44 pixels | Order forms and upsell accept or decline links | Button size and padding in the element settings |
| Under 600 characters of text in the page as the server delivers it | Pages that are mostly a video or images of text | Put the promise, who it is for and the price in real text, not only inside the video or an image |
Each deduction names the measurement it came from, so you can confirm it on your own page before you change anything. Audit the steps in funnel order and fix the first weak step first, since every later step only sees the people the earlier ones let through.
How do I increase conversions on ClickFunnels?
Short answer: fix the funnel one step at a time, starting with the first. Give each page a headline that names the result, put a button in the first screen on a phone and repeat it down the page, cut the opt-in and order forms to the fields you actually use, remove links that lead out of the funnel, and keep each page fast on mobile. Then measure the step-to-step rate again before you touch the next step.
The order matters more than any single tactic. A better upsell offer cannot help if 80 percent of paid clicks leave the opt-in page, and a new order bump is wasted on an order form that half of buyers abandon at the address field. Work from the top of the funnel down, and only move on when the step you just changed has had enough traffic to show a difference in its own numbers.
How do I split test in ClickFunnels?
Short answer: open the funnel step, click the three-dot menu on the page, choose Split test page, then either create a new page or duplicate the current one to make the variant. ClickFunnels' help center says each funnel step can hold one variant page, and recommends running a test for at least 30 days.
Two details catch people out. First, according to the same help article, a new split test starts at 100 percent to 0 percent, so every visitor still sees the original until you move the split test slider and click Apply Change. A test left on the default is not a test. Second, the help article does not describe an automatic winner: the page thumbnails show page views, opt-ins, orders and sales, and you compare them yourself. When the split test sits on the first step, ClickFunnels serves both versions at the funnel's root URL rather than redirecting, a change its changelog says was made so ad platforms that restrict redirects, such as Facebook, accept the link.
Before you run one, check the arithmetic. Detecting a 10 percent relative lift on a step converting at 2 percent takes about 81,000 visitors per variation at 95 percent confidence and 80 percent power (the working is in A/B test sample size). A funnel with a few thousand visitors a month will not get there in 30 days, or in a year. Use split tests for big changes on high-traffic steps, and fix known leaks directly everywhere else.
What is a good conversion rate for a ClickFunnels funnel?
There is no neutral published benchmark for ClickFunnels funnels, and figures quoted on sales pages are not audited. What you can measure is your own step-to-step rate: opt-ins divided by opt-in page views, orders divided by sales page or order form views, upsell takes divided by buyers. The ClickFunnels page stats give you those numbers per step. The step with the biggest drop relative to the traffic it receives is the one to audit first, whatever a benchmark says.
A funnel builder, an agency or an audit tool
When a funnel does not sell, the usual move is to hire someone to rebuild it. That makes sense when you need a new funnel. When you already have one with traffic, finding the leak first is cheaper and tells you what to brief.
| Route | What you get | What it costs you | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A freelance ClickFunnels expert | A funnel built or rebuilt in your account | An hourly rate or project fee, and days to weeks of turnaround | A new offer, or a funnel that needs a full rebuild |
| A funnel agency | Strategy, copy, build and often ad management | A project fee or monthly retainer, usually the largest option | Businesses spending enough on ads to justify ongoing work |
| Converto | A scored audit of each live step with ranked fixes and replacement copy | A monthly plan from $29 billed yearly, nothing installed | Finding the weak step, fixing it in the editor yourself, and re-checking after every change |
The routes combine. Audit the funnel, fix the structural problems yourself, and give a designer or copywriter a written list for what is left. If you are pricing outside help, ClickFunnels expert cost lays out hourly and project rates and what to put in the brief. If you are still weighing the platform itself, ClickFunnels pricing has every plan and the costs the pricing page leaves out.
What Converto can and cannot see in a ClickFunnels funnel
- Opt-in pages, sales pages, webinar registration pages and thank-you pages are read in full from their public URL, on a custom domain or a myclickfunnels.com address.
- Order forms and upsell steps can be pasted in too. If a step builds its form in the browser rather than in the page the server sends, the audit sees less of it and says so; check those fields by hand in the editor. For checkout pages on any platform, see checkout page optimization.
- Member areas, courses and anything behind a login are not read.
- Your offer, price and traffic quality are outside the audit. It cannot tell you whether the offer is right for the market, and it cannot prove that a change caused a sale. It tells you that a known leak is on the page and how much of the score it costs.
For funnels on other platforms, the same method is on funnel optimization and, for agencies running client funnels, GoHighLevel funnel optimization. For the form-length question in detail, see how many form fields is too many.

Fix the funnel one step at a time from the top. Give each page a headline that names the result, put a button in the first phone screen, cut forms to the fields you use, remove links out of the funnel and keep pages fast. Re-measure each step before moving on.
Open the funnel step, click the three-dot menu, choose Split test page and create or duplicate a variant. Each step holds one variant. The split starts at 100 to 0, so move the slider and click Apply Change, then run it for at least 30 days.
A new ClickFunnels split test starts at 100 percent to the original and 0 percent to the variant. Until you move the split test slider and click Apply Change, every visitor sees the original page.
No. Converto reads the public URL of each funnel step, so there is no app, no tracking code and no account access. You make the changes yourself in the ClickFunnels editor from the ranked fix list.
You can paste the order form URL. If the form is built in the browser, the audit sees less of it and says so; then check the fields by hand in the editor and audit the sales page that feeds it.
Converto plans start from $29 a month billed yearly. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of audits, and every audit covers copy, CTA, layout, speed and AI-readability with ranked fixes and ready-to-ship variants.
