Why mobile converts lower, and what part of that is fixable

Speed is the mobile conversion lever

The mobile fold is smaller than you think

On a common phone viewport you have roughly 600 by 350 CSS pixels of usable area after the browser chrome, and a sticky nav can take a third of it. That space has to carry what you do, who it is for, and what to tap next. Anything else, an award badge, a video, a five-word tagline above the real headline, is competing for space you cannot spare.

Two rules follow. Headlines that run three lines on desktop run six on a phone, so write a shorter variant rather than letting the desktop copy wrap. And the CTA should be visible without scrolling on the majority of devices, which usually means shrinking the hero image rather than moving the button up.

Forms on a phone

Typing on glass is the highest-friction thing you ask a visitor to do, so every field costs more here than on desktop. Beyond cutting the count, the mechanical details matter more than people expect: set the input type so the numeric keypad appears for phone and card numbers, enable autocomplete attributes so the browser can fill address and payment data in one tap, keep tap targets at least 44 by 44 pixels with real spacing between them, and replace long dropdowns with a text input or a short set of buttons.
